Reopen library

The old S. Vellaichamy Nadar Municipal Library on Katcheri Road in Virudhunagar used to be a centre of knowledge. The library, which used to overflow with readers, remains closed for the past few years. The library building is in a dilapidated condition. With no library other than the district library to cater to the needs of the ever-increasing population of the town, it is imperative that the closed library is given a new lease of life.  Needless to say, libraries  play a significant role in helping poor students  prepare for  competitive examinations, in an environment of acute unemployment. I therefore request the new municipal council to examine the issue in the right perspective and reopen the library in the interest of the public in general and students in particular.

Conduct book fair in Ramanathapuram

The government has proposed to conduct book fairs in all districts. Previously book fair was conducted in Ramanathapuram by the district administration in a grand manner. I request the Collector to conduct book fair in Ramanathapuram again.

Protect oorani

There is a oorani belonging to the Ramanathapuram municipality along Semmangudi Street  behind old bus stand in ward 30. Some individuals and real estate brokers have converted this waterbody as housing plots and are attempting to alienate the municipal property. The district administration and the Municipal Commissioner should protect the public property by taking immediate action.

Asmabagh Anvardeen,

Ramanathapuram
