Dina Asher-Smith goes into the 2019 World Athletics Championships as Great Britain's leading individual medal hope.
The 23-year-old won three gold medals at last summer’s European Championships, and finished 2018 as the world leader over both 100m and 200m.
This year, Asher-Smith has continued her rise, winning the Diamond League title over 100m in Brussels at the start of September with a clocking of 10.88, just 0.03 seconds outside her own British record.
However, it is in the 200m that Asher-Smith looks to have the best chance of securing a first major global title.
World leader Shaunae Miller-Uibo, of the Bahamas, has chosen to focus on the 400m, with the schedule not facilitating a double, leaving Asher-Smith as favourite.
The Brit will face competition from the likes of Elaine Thompson (Jamaica) and Blessing Okagbare (Nigeria), who have both run faster this year, but will take confidence from having beaten both women at the Zurich Diamond League in late August.
On top of her individual escapades, Asher-Smith will lead a relay team that also have genuine medal aspirations, having won silver at the last world championships in London two years ago.
