The incident between Lakers star LeBron James and Rockets coach Ime Udoka on Saturday made plenty of headlines. Following Udoka’s ejection during the 107–97 loss, Houston’s outspoken forward Dillon Brooks was asked about the topic and pointed at the officials while openly calling them out.
After admitting he “tried to push LeBron away” from the back-and-forth with Udoka, Brooks said he believes the officials let it get out of hand.
“I tried to push LeBron away from it. The refs just let it get out of hand. A terrible group out there that was reffing, and they lost control of the game, and it was very inconsistent,” Brooks told Adam Spolane of SportsRadio 610.
“That’s what you get from inconsistent refs, it’s a whole bunch of nonsense.”
Brooks is never one to shy away from addressing a hot-button topic, which is again true in this instance.
He and the Lakers, specifically James, have built a bit of a rivalry dating back to the playoffs last year. Brooks called James “old” and received criticism for “poking the bear” after the Lakers went on to win that series 4–2.
