For the second game in a row, Dillon Brooks refused to talk to media members after a Grizzlies loss to the Lakers in the first round of the playoffs. But be fair, he did say one thing to them.
“I’m out,” Brooks said Monday night after a 117–111 overtime loss in Game 4, per ESPN’s Tim MacMahon.
Ever since Memphis won Game 2 and Brooks called LeBron James “old” and added “I poke bears. I don’t respect no one until they come and give me 40,” his team hasn’t won a game and he has struggled on the floor. After both his team’s Game 3 and Game 4 losses, Brooks has avoided talking to reporters.
In Game 3, Brooks went 3-for-13 and scored just seven points before he was ejected for hitting James in the groin. And in Monday night’s Game 4, he shot 4-for-11 from the field, scoring just 11 points in 41 minutes of action. The only time he has spoken to media members since his initial jabs at James was Sunday where he blamed the media for “making me a villain.”
Players, NBA fans and media members have been critical of Brooks’s actions and play on the floor. If the Grizzlies lose Game 5 on Wednesday and he again opts to not talk to the media, it will be a long offseason for the forward, who is looking for a new deal.
Tip-off for Game 5 is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
