Dillian Whyte sends warning to Tyson Fury ahead of heavyweight blockbuster

Dillian Whyte has sent a message to Tyson Fury ahead of their heavyweight blockbuster this Saturday night. Fury will defend his WBC heavyweight championship against fellow Brit Whyte in front of over 90,000 people at the national stadium on Saturday, April 23 - a fight Whyte has been waiting years for.

Over the past few months, we have heard absolutely nothing from Whyte. The Body Snatcher did not take part in the first press conference after the fight was announced, leading to speculation he could pull out of the bout altogether. But that was never once in his mind. Whilst he was frustrated with Fury's camp not working with him, he chose to remain quiet, whilst training in Portugal in preparation for the biggest fight of his career.

It will be his first time back in the ring for over a year, after he avenged his second career loss to Alexander Povetkin, winning with a fourth-round knockout.

And whilst he knows he's going to be the heavy underdog, whilst fighting a fan favourite in Fury, Whyte is confident in what he's going to do once he gets in the ring on Saturday night, whilst sending a shot at Fury's camp for how they've acted in the promotion for the bout.

Speaking to the Guardian, Whyte said: "When you’re swimming with sharks you can’t act surprised and say: ‘I can’t believe I got bitten by a shark.’ The risk is always there.

"But it is a shame because, if everything had been done properly, we could have had a gigantic fight. It’s still a big fight but it should have been massive. I’m not a pushover. If you try and put pressure on me, I’m not going to fold. I’ll fight back tenfold."

Whyte did not show up to the press conference after certain requests were not met by Fury's camp, with the Body Snatcher admitting that he felt disrespected.

Whyte also revealed for him and Fury were once friends, after training together in 2012. He said: "Back when he was preparing for the Martin Rogan fight [in April 2012] I spent a few months with Tyson. Peter Fury [Tyson’s uncle and then trainer] is very clever. He brought in good, tough, skilled guys to help Tyson get better. I stayed in a Gypsy camp in Warrington and it was a good experience.

"I liked learning about the gypsy culture and their beliefs. I’m a strong believer that you only get to understand people when you live alongside them. We trained and lived together but Tyson wasn’t staying in no caravan with travelling gypsies."

But now, there's no love lost between the two, with Whyte being frustrated with Fury's words over the last few months.
