Dillian Whyte defended by former world champion amid silence over Tyson Fury fight

Dillian Whyte has been backed to "fight for nothing" despite his silence around the Tyson Fury fight.

The 'Body Snatcher' looks as though he may finally have received his world-title shot against Fury with Frank Warren winning purse bids with a £31million offer.

Now a fight is close to being made with just a venue and date yet to be agreed, but Whyte is yet to fully break his silence after the fight details were confirmed.

However former cruiserweight champion Johnny Nelson believes Whyte's silence is just a matter of "business" and believes the fight will happen as planned this year.

"Well I don't believe it is down to Dillian because he would fight for nothing," Nelson told Boxing Social. "I think this is down to the business side of things.

Dillian Whyte has yet to address his title bout with Tyson Fury (Mark Robinson Matchroom Boxing)

"They will try and push it to the wire, Dillian is not the kind of guy that money is not his god and it isn't the case with Tyson Fury either. This is the businessmen and the business behind it.

"This fight will happen and if it is really gonna happen, the fight is going to happen. Dillian Whyte has a good chance but he is getting in there with the best fighter in the world, Fury has proved that officially whether you like it or not.

"Whyte has to go in there and fight with his kind of fire, and to raise this kind of money for this fight is mad."

Whyte has said just two-words since Warren won the purse bids to stage the fight in the UK.

He has been offered a deadline to sign the contract and have the fight officially confirmed by the WBC later this month.

The British star has been awaiting for the opportunity to fight for the title since 2017 when he first became interim champion.

However he was unhappy with the financial terms and was locked in an arbitration with the WBC after they ordered a purse split of 80 per cent in the champion's favour.

The 'Gypsy King' has since expressed his delight at the event taking place under Warren's reign and has called for Whyte to break his silence.

"This is a message for Dillian Whyte. Whyte feathers. Coward. Where are you Whyte feathers? You wanted your world-title shot with Wilder for three years," Fury said in a video.

"You never got it you were mandatory for me for three minutes and you got your fight didn't you you coward. ' Tyson Fury is a coward he doesn't want to fight Dillian Whyte'.

"Well all of a sudden it is on your toes and you have gone silent you little b****. Come out from hiding Whyte feathers. Come and get it, you are getting a good hiding.

"You wanted a bit of free money didn't you dosser, now you are getting $8m which is $7.5m too much for you, come out and say something, bum."
