'Difficult situation' — Mauricio Pochettino addresses PSG boos amid Manchester United interest

Manchester United managerial target Mauricio Pochettino has responded to the jeers received by Paris Saint-Germain stars Neymar and Lionel Messi today (Sunday).

The frosty reception from supporters of the Ligue 1 leaders comes days after their Champions League exit to Real Madrid. Pochettino has been subject to interest from United as the search for a permanent manager continues — with Erik ten Hag also in the picture — but he's had a mixed time at PSG.

Their defeat to Real Madrid in midweek saw many United fans voice scepticism over a possible Pochettino appointment. And despite the 3-0 win over Bordeaux in Ligue 1 on Sunday, there was a sombre atmosphere in the French capital.

"No, for me it's unfair. We all deserve this anger from the fans, not just Neymar and Messi, they are two world-class players," he said speaking after the match via Canal Supporters PSG. "They must therefore be respected. When we lose or win, it's always as a team. "

“My feeling of the match? Very difficult. We can understand the frustration, the disappointment of our supporters.

"We feel the same and we are all together in this immense frustration of not going further in the Champions League. The whistles? It was for everyone.

"We are a team, we are all together. It's a really sad situation.

"The focus is to win the title. The situation is difficult, we are not going to change the past. I have to try to concentrate and win the title but also the next matches."
