Diehard Edinburgh Harry Styles fans camp outside Murrayfield 24 hours before gig begins

Edinburgh Harry Styles fans have been pictured outside BT Murrayfield more than 24 hours before his first appearance on stage on Friday, with some even turning up two days in advance.

A small queue of dedicated super fans has formed just outside the 67,000-capacity stadium, with two making the journey all the way from Perth and Melbourne in Australia to see their favourite artist.

Last week saw tens of thousands of music fans descend on the same venue before Beyoncé appeared on stage during her renaissance tour and less than a week later, the same buzz in the air has returned.

After heading down to the grounds outside Murrayfield on a sunny Thursday afternoon, we spoke to two fans, one of whom has seen the former One Direction singer more than 40 times.

Funnily enough, Cathryn, 25, and Fauve, 22, met each other at a Harry Styles gig back home and have become best friends.

Setting up camp around midnight on Wednesday, May 24, two days before Harry's first show on Friday, the pair can't wait to get one of the best views inside the venue.

Fauve has seen the 29-year-old an incredible 41 times so far, with her friend Cathryn seeing the English singer-songwriter 21 times in the flesh. Both of them are staying for Harry's gig on Friday and Saturday, with Fauve opting to sleep in the airport on Saturday night rather than pay the inflated hotel prices in the capital.

They said: "We met doing this too, we've camped out in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney. We've both been here since before midnight yesterday (Thursday) and have just slept in the queue.

"Apparently some people at the front of the queue got here two days ago but I don't know if that's definitely true. We never do it more than one night though.

"Once you camp out once or twice you kind of have to keep doing it. It's basically to get barrier standing spots which is the best place to be and the gig is more fun. It's fun at the back too but it's even better the further forward you are.

"I just have a really good time, especially when I'm with all my friends too," Fauve added.

Cathryn agreed, saying: "I feel like it's just a really good way to line up and meet new people as well, we've met so many people through doing this."

The set of fans who were first in line before the gates to buy Harry Styles merchandise confirmed they had only been in the queue for 24 hours and some of them had never seen Harry before.

One woman, from Dundee, said: "We got here yesterday and just decided to join the queue early. I've seen Harry once when he was in One Direction but not as a solo artist.

"We're aiming to be right at the front and can't wait for the gig to start, it would be nice if he comes out wearing a kilt."

Images from inside the grounds show several other diehard fans camped out with sleeping bags and huge bags of food and water. Hundreds of others were making their way from nearby trams and buses to join a separate queue for merchandise and soak up the atmosphere before a huge weekend.

BT Murrayfield has confirmed that all tickets for the shows on Friday and Saturday are required to be printed at home before attending. They said: "You MUST print your ticket before coming to the venue, otherwise you will not gain entry."

The stadium will open at 5pm to all ticket holders. BT Murrayfield is situated in an industrial and residential area that isn’t suitable for anyone camping or queuing too far in advance of the gates opening.

Therefore, the venue has recommended that anyone attending the show does not come down to the stadium until 12pm at the very earliest on the day of the show.
