Diego Forlan has criticised the Glazer family for Manchester United's fall from dominance. Despite having a storied history, United have failed to won a single trophy since the 2016/17 season.
The Europa League and League Cup double was the last hint of success for the Reds in the last five seasons and according to the Uruguayan legend, the reasons for this demise is down to the club's ownership.
During his brief time with United, Forlan won the Premier League, FA Cup and two Community Shields. Speaking to El Pais before United were dumped out of the Champions League by Atletico Madrid, Forlan said: "I’m speaking from the outside, but with the change of ownership, the objectives seem to be different.

"In that United team, there were a lot of home-grown players. That, with the good players there were, increased the quality and gave an identity that made a difference.
"Today, there are not so many home-grown players, also because there is a lot of competition in the scouting of young players. The surrounding clubs have grown.
"In my time there was only Arsenal. Now there are (Man) City, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Liverpool have re-emerged."

In another interview with The Athletic, Forlan explained that when he was at Old Trafford winning the league was the norm. However, now he sees it as 'not being easy' for Manchester United to win trophies.
