Former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan has urged fellow countryman Darwin Nunez to ignore other offers and make the move to Old Trafford this summer.
The Benfica striker is attracting plenty of interest ahead of the opening of the summer transfer window. With 34 goals in 40 appearances across all competitions this season, the Uruguay international is unlikely to be short of potential suitors.
United are among those to have been linked with a move for the forward. They are likely to be in the market for a new striker after interim boss Ralf Rangnick suggested they needed to sign two more in the summer, and Nunez would certainly seem to fit the bill.

They’re far from the only side to have been linked with an interest though. Reports have suggested Arsenal could also be in the running, with the Gunners also likely to be on the lookout for a new forward, with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah both seeing their contracts expire at the end of the season.
Newcastle have also been touted as a possible destination, although recent speculation has suggested United could be leading the race. And former Old Trafford cult hero Forlan believes his fellow Uruguayan could be a perfect fit at the club.
"I think that he is a very good player, a good kid who is doing really well at Benfica and is enjoying a strong season,” Forlan told Breaking the Lines. “It is not just the Portuguese league where he is doing well but in the Champions League too, where he scored six goals this season and helped take Benfica to the quarter finals.
“He is a player who has a lot of potential and he could fit in at Manchester United. But obviously, everyone needs to have patience, although he is getting better with more and more experience.
“He would not be a bad signing for Manchester United and it would be nice to see him there. It is a club that gives you time, that makes you feel comfortable and as if you are in a familiar place, very cosy and nice. It would be spectacular having him playing for Manchester United.”
