Erik ten Hag has been urged to make in-form Benfica forward Darwin Nunez his first signing whenever he eventually arrives at Manchester United.
The Dutchman is expected to be unveiled as the new boss of the Red Devils sooner rather than later, but for now, remains at the helm of Eredivisie giants Ajax. The speculation surrounding his future has been so relentless the club were forced to ban the English media from a recent press conference as a precaution to prevent more United-related questions.
It is seemingly a matter of when rather than if he is appointed and as a result, he may have one eye on potential signings he could bring to Old Trafford in the summer. Thankfully, former United striker Diego Forlan has already identified a candidate in the form of Uruguay international Nunez.
Ex-Atletico Madrid star Forlan has previously compared to Nunez his fellow countrymen Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani but his latest remarks see him try to tee the Benfica star up with a summer switch to United.
Reflecting on Nunez's recent form, Forlan told the 'Beyond the Pitch' YouTube channel: "It's very good. He scored goals in the Champions League against Liverpool in both games and ended the competition with several goals. He is always creating opportunities.
"Maybe he arrives at Manchester United and adapts immediately, maybe he needs some time, as the style of play is different from the Portuguese. But I think he has the level to play in the Premier League."

Nunez has amassed plenty of admirers in recent weeks as a result of his fantastic form on the European stage. The 22-year-old bagged a goal in either leg of Benfica's quarter-final clash with Liverpool and displayed his fantastic range of finishing in the process.
Much like Forlan, Suarez has also heaped praise on his international teammate and even suggested he mentioned his ability to the Barcelona hierarchy while he himself was at the Camp Nou.
"I already told Barça about him when he was at Almería, the former Liverpool striker explained during an interview with Gerard Romero on Twitch. "But I won't say more because then they accuse us of suggesting signings."
Arsenal have also been linked with a move for the striker, but his colossal £125million release clause could be a significant deterrent. With that being said, there are rumours Benfica could be willing to let Nunez go for almost half of that huge figure.
