It wasn't just the draw of Champions League football and Thomas Tuchel that brought Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Denis Zakaria to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea relied on previous relationships to help them draw in their two deadline day signings, and just in case Didier Drogba hadn't done enough for the club, his impact is still helping the side to this day.
The Ivorian, who left Chelsea for the second time in 2015, has played his own role in the club's newest additions, giving his approval for the deal of Aubameyang whilst also being mentioned as reasons for both Wesley Fofana and Zakaria's move.

Drogba, who won three Premier League titles with the club and was the talisman in their first Champions League victory in 2012, has remained a public figure of support during matches and often voices his opinion on matters at SW6. His latest moves show just how much of a big figure he still remains in the corridors of the club.
After the Blues announced the signing of Aubameyang following his late window move, Drogba was quick to show his happiness at the deal, tweeting, "Finally !!!!! Remember the time we spoke about it years ago? Happy for you, brother."
Although the pair never locked horns for Arsenal and Chelsea, Aubameyang has gone on to win African Footballer of the Year - in 2015 - whilst Drogba himself won the award in 2006 and 2009. The two players originate from across the Gulf of Guinea from each other and now share the feeling of wanting to beat Arsenal after Aubameyang switched allegiances.
The 33-year-old's reply to Drogba read: "Finally !!! Just saw that tweet, and I can't feel more blessed than that."
Fofana himself has also seen Drogba as an inspiration, having grown up in Marseille, where Drogba played before moving to London.
The third way Drogba has helped his former club is with Zakaria. The new midfielder gave Claude Makelele and Drogba recognition when asked for idols from the club, and Blues fans will be hoping that he can go on to emulate the previous legends at Stamford Bridge.
Upon Zakaria's announcement, he said: "Drogba, of course, a big striker. I also saw Makelele before. It was amazing for me, a big player, a big legend. If I can play like him, I will be very happy."
Chelsea confirmed academy graduate Armando Broja signed a new deal yesterday, and in his official signing video, he also talks about Didier by saying, "I remember when I first joined the club. I remember meeting Drogba where I'm standing, actually, so he's one of my idols at Chelsea. Broja, like many players growing up in the academy set-up, will idolise Drogba and dream of one day being the player he was for the club.
