Didier Drogba solves Rio Ferdinand Chelsea transfer puzzle as Todd Boehly told summer priority

Didier Drogba has told Victor Osimhen to not join Paris Saint-Germain if he wants to 'continue his progress'. The 24-year-old striker has been heavily linked with an exit from Napoli this season and a big move in the summer could be on the cards.

Osimhen, who sees his deal expire in 2025, has featured 24 times for Luciano Spalletti's side this term, directly contributing towards 26 goals. His stunning displays in the Serie A have steered Napoli 14 points clear of second-placed Lazio, courting the interest of some top clubs in Europe including Chelsea.

According to Sky Sports Germany, the Blues are joined by Manchester City, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain in the race to sign the Nigeria international, with various talks already taking place. It's said that the Premier League champions have enquired about Osimhen, despite having welcomed Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez to the Etihad Stadium in the summer.

Sky Sports add that the Italian outfit could demand at least €100million (£88m) for the Nigerian's signature. With Chelsea in desperate need of a striker and Todd Boehly seemingly open to spend big, his price tag may not be an issue – but only time will tell.

After Osimhen and Napoli were knocked out of the Champions League quarter-final, Drogba addressed speculation hanging over the striker future and insisted that he must not join PSG. Speaking to Canal Plus, the Blues legend said: "If he [Osimhen] is really in the sights of a club like PSG.

"It shows the full extent of his talent and the season he is having. But PSG is not the club he needs to continue his progress."

On BT Sport, Rio Ferdinand claimed that Chelsea must sign a new striker in the summer after the Blues struggled to beat Thibaut Courtois despite a plethora of chances. The former Manchester United defender said: "They don’t score enough goals, that’s obvious.

"That team that started the game had 17 goals between them for the season – [Karim] Benzema outscored that completely on his own, so that tells you where they’re at. Today in the first half they created chances, they had arguably the best chances in the first half, but they just didn’t have anyone to put the ball in the net and that’s been an issue.

"Recruitment in the summer is going to be massive for this football club - as much as they want to get players, to get people out. They’ve got to get players out to make sure there’s room to bring players in."
