DiDi’s New Tow Truck Feature Let’s You Book A Pick-Up For Your Car & Go Along For The Ride

It’s officially silly season and I guarantee there will be a time when you will be driving to a social event, only to have a few too many drinks. You’ll then to face the grim reality of leaving your car overnight, only to beg your mum, housemate or one night stand to help you pick it up the next day.

But fear not, party people! DiDi has just rolled out a tow truck service in Melbourne that’s about to make your wild nights a whole lot wilder — responsibly, of course! That’s right, no more waking up at the crack of dawn to rescue your car from the risk of a hefty fine.

This is wild. I love it. (Image: Supplied)

This Australia-first initiative is here to save both you and your beloved vehicle after a night of questionable decisions and dance moves. Lena Parevska, one of DiDi’s drivers told Today, “DiDi Tow is designed to get both passengers and their cars home on the same night and save them that terrible morning trip.”

It’s like Uber Eats for your car — except instead of food, you’re getting your wheels home safe and sound. And who knows? You might even convince your driver to swing by a drive-thru for a late night feast.

“Hey, if I’m really hungry as well, absolutely we will be pulling over, if it’s safe to do so – I don’t see why not,” said Lena. Okay, so I’m officially obsessed with Lena.

Wait, I love this. (Image: Today/ Channel Nine)

Once Melbournians have booked via the app (it’s the little orange tow truck icon), a driver will literally come to you, grab your keys, get your car on the back of their truck, and take both you and it home safely. It’s maybe the only time you’ll be happy about getting your car towed, TBH.

Let’s gooo. (Image: DiDi/Instagram)

Right now, DiDi’s tow truck offering is only available in Melbourne’s CBD, but nation-wide plans are in the works.

It’s also going to cost around the same as a regular DiDi ride — for now — with a pricing model still to come. Presumably, it’ll cost a wee bit more than your regular ride share.

So, this is your sign to enjoy that extra drink (or three) at your next Chrissy party. Now go forth and get wild (safely)!
