FORMER Bayern Munich and Liverpool star Didi Hamann has slammed legendary keeper Manuel Neuer for claiming they were the better side in the Champions League against Celtic.
And he insists the Scottish champions deserved to win and qualify after their agonising play-off exit.
Champions League winner and 59-time capped ex-Bayern Munich and Germany midfielder Hamann was impressed with Celtic and couldn't believe the German No.1 reckoned Bayern were better.
Neuer, 38, said: "It wasn't our best day, but in the end, we deserved to qualify. We have now advanced in the playoffs which is what we set out to do.
"We know that those weren't our best games."
But Hamann pointed out: "If Manuel Neuer said Celtic were not the better team, then he is simply not right.

"Celtic were the better team in both halves.
"Over the 90 minutes, only one team tried to play football and they were in green and black. That was Celtic.
"At Bayern, the responsibility was passed back and forth.
"Bayern were incredibly fortunate because Celtic missed many great chances in the first half. They deserved to qualify in the tie.
"They played statically, no movement, no joy in playing, no finesse. They had one or two half-chances, but you never had the feeling that they would score a goal.
"Look at Jamal Musiala. He is now the highest earner. Of course, you can't judge him just by this game, but he hasn't played well in the last few months.
"We are talking about contracts with ridiculous sums. 20 million here, 25 million there. You have to ask yourself whether these players are even worth that "Where is Bayern in terms of the top teams in Europe? Are they among the top five or six? I don't think so.
"Bayern pay these massive salaries, but if their No.9 is injured, they have no one to replace Harry Kane. That's unacceptable."
