Diddy’s Attorney Steps Down From Case: ‘Under No Circumstances Can I Continue’

One of the attorneys representing disgraced rapper and entertainment mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, Anthony Ricco, has just filed a motion to withdraw from the former producer’s legal counsel

“Although I have provided Sean Combs with the high level of legal representation expected by the court, under no circumstances can I continue to effectively serve as counsel for Sean Combs,” Ricco wrote.

Ricco did not give further explanation on why he chose to withdraw from Combs’ ongoing sex trafficking case, although he mentioned that there are “sufficient reasons” for his leaving that are protected under attorney/client privilege.

A judge has to approve the motion, and Ricco has said that there will be no delay to jury selection for Combs’ trial set to begin on May 5

Ricco originally joined Combs’ legal counsel in September 2024 alongside lawyers Marc Agnifilo and Teny Geragos, who will remain to represent Combs in court

Ricco and Combs’ representatives have not yet commented on the withdrawal.

Combs is currently incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, the same facility that is also housing accused CEO killer Luigi Mangione, and has been residing there since he was hit with the sex trafficking charge in September of last year.

Last week, a lawsuit that accused Combs and hip-hop tycoon Jay-Z (real name Shawn Carter) of raping an anonymous 13 year-old girl back in 2000 was dismissed by the Jane Doe’s lawyer.

Jay Z described the dismissal as a “victory”, via a statement posted to his music management company’s X account, ROC Nation.

“The frivolous, fictitious and appalling allegations have been dismissed,” the statement read.

“The fictional tale they created was laughable, if not for the seriousness of the claims.

“The trauma that my wife, my children, my loved ones and I have endured can never be dismissed.”

Combs has also filed a separate $100 million lawsuit against NBC Universal, Peacock, and Ample Entertainment over their Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy documentary that highlights Combs’ alleged sexual abuse and misconduct
