Did you know there's a stunning whiskey tasting experience in Malahide Castle?

Malahide Castle and Gardens is offering visitors to the historical site the unique opportunity to enjoy a whiskey tasting experience included in a visit to the attraction.

Those heading to the castle for a visit can now upscale their experience on Saturday nights.

You can firstly immerse yourself in the castles fascinating 800 year history, explore the private rooms and collections that played a part in Irish political and social history on a guided tour, and then go downstairs for a whiskey tasting.

The whiskey tasting experience is led by Whiskey Island founders John Callely Snr and John Callely Jnr and is broken up into five parts. Guests will sample and compare premium, craft Irish Whiskey to a Scotch to an American Whiskey whilst learning about the rich history and journey of Irish Whiskey up to present day.

Founder of Whiskey Island John Callely said of the experience: "As locals from the Malahide area, we are delighted to have the privilege to partner with Malahide Castle and Gardens to deliver whiskey tastings to the guests in this great piece of Irish history.

"We love sharing the Irish whiskey story with guests of Malahide Castle and showcasing some local whiskeys. It is a fully self-contained operation, we have the tasting glasses, tasting mats and the whiskey of course."

Tickets for the whiskey experience cost €35 per person and should be collected by the Visitor Centre at Malahide Castle and Gardens at least 10 minutes before the starting time.

Attendees must be over 18 and ID may be required upon entry.

The experience lasts around 75 minutes and can be booked here.

Malahide Castle and Gardens also offers private tours of the building as well as visits to the butterfly house and other park amenities including a large playground, plenty of green space and sports pitches.
