Kamal Haasan and Sridevi’s performance in ‘Sadma’ had garnered a lot of love and appreciation. Their fans were also in awe of their sizzling onscreen chemistry. So much so that Sridevi’s mother wanted them to get married in real life.
Yes, you read that right! Kamal Haasan revealed the same in a note titled, ‘The 28 Avatars of Sridevi’ which the ace actor wrote after she passed away and read it at a memorial service held for her. The actor stated that Sridevi and he were such close friends that her mother would often ask him to marry her daughter. However, he would always decline, stating that he cannot get married to someone he considers his family.
Kamal Haasan had further revealed that Sridevi had a great deal of regard for him and called him "Sir" up until the time of her passing. According to him, if anything, their bond was too pure.
It was on the sets of the Tamil film, ‘Moondru Mudichu’ where Sridevi first met Kamal Haasan when she was about 13 years old. This reportedly occurred in 1976, when the actress was just starting out in the industry. The actor also revealed that it was his responsibility to practise with her as the movie's assistant director.
