Chandigarh: Singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, aka Sidhu Moose Wala, 28, was shot dead near Jawaharke village in Mansa district on Sunday evening. He was shot at point blank range and declared dead on arrival at hospital.
Sidhu Moose Wala rose to great heights and became an icon in the Punjabi music industry within just four years.
One of his latest songs, 'The Last Ride’ was released about two weeks ago. Its chorus went "Ho chobbar de chehre utte noor dassda, ni ehda uthuga jawani Ch Janaja Mithiye (The glow on the face of this young man shows that he will die at a young age).
The song was reportedly a tribute to rapper Tupac Shakur who was shot dead in his car at the age of 25 in 1996.
Several fans have noticed uncanny similarities between the song and the circumstances of Moose Wala's death.
Soon after the news of his killing, 'The Last Ride' began to trend on social media.
Sidhu Moose Wala contested the Punjab assembly elections earlier this year as a Congress candidate from Mansa constituency and lost to Aam Aadmi Party's Dr Vijay Singla.
