LeBron James has been out of action for almost three weeks with a right foot tendon injury, and from all indications, although he is inching toward a return, he isn’t anywhere close to actually coming back.
The Athletic’s Jovan Buha said during a HoopsHype podcast this week that James will likely return sometime in early April, assuming he does return at all this season.
Buy Lakers TicketsThe Lakers have been tight-lipped about the nature of his injury, making it difficult for fans and pundits to make any educated guesses about when he may be able to play again.
Guard Dennis Schroder seemed to hint something about James’ impending return while mentioning that doctors in his native Germany “are great.”

It sounds like Schroder may have been referencing Regenokine, which is a treatment developed in Germany that helps treat joint pain and ailments using a patient’s own blood. It’s a procedure that started to become well known when late Lakers legend Kobe Bryant underwent it late in his career when he was having knee problems, and it helped him have a couple more very productive years in his mid-30s.
James will reportedly be re-evaluated sometime next week, but of course, that does not mean he will necessarily be cleared to play at that time.
