Dickinson's Real Deal expert quits show for Love Island daughter

An ITV antiques expert has quit her TV job to work with her daughter who starred on Love Island.

Cheryl Hakeney regularly appears alongside David Dickinson on Real Deals, where she parts with her cash to buy some of the public's best offerings of antique items they've found in their home. However, Cheryl has confirmed she didn't have enough time to film the next series as she has been busy working alongside her daughter Zara Holland on their own company, the Mirror reports.

The pair own fashion business Mimi Boutique, which they say has only been growing and growing amid the pandemic and their business has doubled.

She told Mail Online: "I did the show for 14 years. I was one of the originals but now mine and Zara's business is booming, unfortunately I don't have enough time to film the next series."

Cheryl feels Dickinson's Real Deal is very different from popular BBC show Antiques Roadshow because deals are really being made.

She said: "'Lots of people tend to think it's not our real money or we don't really buy the items but oh boy yes we do. It is a real deal and that's where the fascination is. We are real dealers, and it is our real money. I'll be truthful, sometimes I've purchased something that I've had to sell at a considerable loss.

"On the Antiques Roadshow nobody is actually buying, and no cash is being exchanged. Nobody is going to auction so they just give their opinion of maybe what it's worth, we give a real deal there and then, people can see what happens when they go to auction."

Back in 2016, Zara Holland was stripped of the Miss Great Britain crown for having sex on Love Island.

"I'm really surprised by Zara's behaviour - it's definitely out of character. But, although it's not her proudest moment, she hasn't committed any crime," her mum said at the time, adding: "I'm disappointed they took her title away.

"I hoped they would understand that all young women make mistakes."

The pair now run Mimi Boutique together, which was founded in 2009. They have a boutique in Hessle, East Yorkshire and another in Beverley, East Yorkshire. They also sell online too with items coming from Italy, Paris and the UK.
