Dick Van Dyke was seen giving out wads of cash to job seekers in Malibu.

The 95-year-old actor gave back to members of his community on Tuesday (30 March) while running errands.

After stopping by a bank to withdraw money from an ATM, Van Dyke visited the Malibu Community Labour Exchange, a non-profit organisation that helps out-of-work people find local jobs.

Parking his car outside the facility, the Mary Poppins star then handed out piles of bills to people waiting in line, at a time when the coronavirus pandemic has left many people unemployed. It is unknown how much money he gave out.

Born in 1925, Van Dyke was best known for his work in the 1960s on The Dick Van Dyke Show and in musicals such as Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

In 2018, he made a cameo in Disney sequel Mary Poppins Returns as Mr Dawes, a role that he paid the company $4,000 (£2,900) to do.

“I said, ‘I’ll do it for nothing,’” Van Dyke recalled. “Actually, I had to give him $4,000. I had to pay him to do the part.”
