Dick and Dom have said that their show Da Bungalow would not be on children’s TV today as it’s too “edgy”.
The comic duo Dick McCourt and Dom Wood appeared on Good Morning Britain to speak with presenters Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley ahead of their new tour.
Dick and Dom said they are bringing back Da Bungalow to celebrate their 20th anniversary with a tour.
It will include all their favourite messy games, like Creamy Muck Muck, where members of the audience get splattered with gunk.
As they chatted about the upcoming antics, Richard reflected on their hit children’s TV show, which ran from 2002 to 2006 and featured segments such as the pair yelling “bogeys” in public.
Richard asked: “You’ve said you probably wouldn't get it on air today? It wouldn’t fly today? What do you mean?”
Dom replied: “Well, I think some of the content would be seen as maybe a bit edgy. We had some games, lots of different games.”
This comes after Dick previously said: “The rulebook since then has got bigger,” as they admitted some of their features such as Baldy Slap Heads would not get the go-ahead today.
“We got people to hold puppies, which would lick dog food off vases,” laughs Dom Wood. “It was very funny. The dogs were happy, but nowadays that just would not be allowed.”
They proudly boast their show was the second kids’ TV programme (after Blue Peter) to be called out in the Commons.
They started their Da Bungalow show in August 2002, and proudly boast being referred to as having “lavatorial” humour in the House of Commons back in 2005.
Ahead of their new tour, the cheeky duo have said they are not looking forward to the cleaning bills after creating chaos.
“It’s been an interesting conversation with some of the theatres, like the royal theatres with nice plush velvet seats,” laughed Dick.
"They aren’t that impressed by that. We don’t want any invoices for velvet seats from the 1800s.” Dom added: “We might need to do it in something like the Crystal Maze dome."
The pair, also famed for their game Bogeys, where they shouted the word in public, were mobbed by stars including Big Zuu at this year’s NME Awards.
The Dick And Dom In Da Bungalow 20th Anniversary Tour will be in theatres this autumn.
