Dick Advocaat questions Arne Slot's decision to snub Leeds United

Dick Advocaat has suggested that Feyenoord boss Arne Slot should've made the move to the Premier League by joining Leeds United.

Slot announced on Friday that he intends to stay at Feyenoord in response to reports heavily linking him with the managerial vacancy at Elland Road.

The Dutchman is chasing the Eredivisie title with Feyenoord, who sit one-point behind league leaders AZ Alkmaar having played a game fewer.

Advocaat has enjoyed a nomadic managerial career both at club and international level. He has managed no fewer than 13 different clubs across Europe, as well as seven different nations, including three separate spells as Netherlands boss.

He guided Sunderland to safety in 2014/15 during his short stint at the Stadium of Light, but was relieved of his duties just two months into the following season.

Nevertheless, Advocaat believes the opportunities offered in the Premier League is a 'different world' to those available at Feyenoord.

“I would have tried to get away,” he told Veronica Offside, relayed by Soccer News. “If you can work in the Premier League, that’s a totally different world. There, everything really revolves around football. Everything possible is possible there.

“It’s just not like that in the Netherlands. Feyenoord does not have a narrow selection, but if you look at the squads in the Premier League, it is not possible here.

“I think Slot is a good trainer, excellent even. What happens when they start paying amounts like they did with Julian Nagelsmann? He went to Bayern Munich for millions. Will they let him go then?”
