Diarmaid Byrnes didn't hold back following Limerick's 3-25 to 1-30 victory over Cork in the Munster Senior Hurling Championship at the Gaelic Grounds.
The Limerick hurler wasn't impressed with the criticism his side has received in recent weeks about their performances.
The Treaty County will now face Clare in the Munster final following their victory against Pat Ryan's team.
Byrnes claimed the media "need something to write about" when questioned on the recent criticism his team has received.
"Outside noise... we're far too experienced as a group. We don't let any of that into our own circle," Byrnes told RTE.
"People talk, the media talk. They their reference points and need something to write about. They need their likes and shares on Instagram and Twitter."
John Kiely's side are the current Munster and All-Ireland champions so Byrnes suggested the success results in extra scrutiny.
"The pundits have to come up with something to write about and unfortunately it's us," Byrnes added.
"We didn't play exactly how we wanted to play the last few weeks. Of course not, it's because the championship is so competitive."
