Dianna Rusinni says ‘vibes are high’ around Saints QB Spencer Rattler

The Spencer Rattler hype train isn’t slowing down. Matter of fact, it’s only gaining more steam by the day. The Athletic’s Dianna Rusinni is the latest member of the national media to praise the potential of Rattler. She changed the game, though, by mentioning Derek Carr.

She sat with former New Orleans Saints quarterback Chase Daniels earlier this week. Russini was adamant there is no immediate quarterback controversy but said, “we need to keep an eye on this one.”

This stems from a text message from someone in the building saying the vibes are high around the rookie quarterback. This feels like the first time we’ve heard the Saints possessing this level of belief in Rattler. It’s good insight on how they view him long term… or maybe even immediately.

Russinni mentioned the Saints next to quarterback situations like Pittsburgh and New England. These are not the situations you want to be mentioned next to. Russini views this as a situation where hypothetically, “once things go a little weird, could they be calling for the backup?”

Russini is a reputable reporter and easily the first source of any merit to express the idea that Rattler could play as a rookie. The hope is Carr does deliver, but it’s interesting that the idea of Rattler replacing Carr is being floated around more.
