Diamonds, sapphires, gold and cash stolen in house burglary in Newport

Police are investigating reports of a burglary at a house in Newport.

Officers were alerted to reports of a burglary at a property in The Hawthorns, Caerleon, Newport, sometime between 9.30am on Friday, January 28, and Sunday, January 30.

Among the stolen items were: a diamond and sapphire ring, Clogau gold rings, a diamond necklace, and a pair of diamond earrings.

A quantity of cash was also taken from the address.

A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: "We’re investigating a report of a burglary in The Hawthorns, Caerleon after several items were taken from a house.

"A diamond and sapphire ring, Clogau gold rings, a diamond necklace, a pair of diamond earrings and a quantity of cash were taken from the address at some point between 9.30am on Friday 28 January and Sunday 30 January.

"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information, including CCTV or dashcam footage, can call 101 or send us a direct message on social media, quoting log reference 2200033647.

"You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 with details."
