Diablo 4's rarest Unique Items have been discovered by players, days after being detailed

Against all odds, the last of Diablo 4’s six rarest Unique Items have been found after the game’s lead class designer revealed all online.

For all its grim-dark environmental detail, impressive World Bosses and addictive hack-and-slash gameplay, everyone knows that Diablo 4 is primarily about one thing: loot. That’s why in the wake of Update 1.0.3's arrival the most dedicated players continue to sink in literally hundreds of hours in pursuit of the highest-level gear, which up until recently hadn’t been fully made known. This changed, however, when Activision Blizzard detailed the rarest Unique Items players could see drop.

It was Adam Jackson specifically, lead class designer on the game, who took to Twitter a few days ago to reveal in a post the six rarest Unique Items players had a chance to find. “They can drop from level 85+ enemies,” he revealed, as well as reinforcing the fact that they’re “realllly rare” despite the fact that they can appear anywhere you can get a regular Unique Item.

Here’s a full list of the six rarest Unique Items in Diablo 4. All have an Item Power capped at 820:

  • Doombringer – Unique Sword
  • The Grandfather – Unique Two-Handed Sword
  • Ring of Starless Skies – Unique Ring
  • Andariel’s Visage – Unique Helm
  • Harlequin Crest – Unique Helm
  • Melted Heart of Selig – Unique Amulet

Following Jackson’s Tweet, players took to Reddit in a thread to question the legitimacy of each item’s rarity and indeed their drop rate, despite the Harlequin Crest and Doombringer sword being seen. But very quickly after this YouTuber YesYou discovered the Andariel’s Visage Unique Helm, which as can be seen in the video specializes in an AoE poison effect.

It was only a day after this that Reddit user Icy-Heat7531 in a Reddit post confirmed that they had discovered The Grandfather two-handed sword in a Helltide event chest. This only left the Ring of Starless Skies and Melted Heart of Selig to be found. The former Blizzard community site Wowhead confirmed had been found in post, weirdly by a level 60 Necromancer. This left another Necromancer (AnyComputer on Reddit) to find the latter as recently as Friday.

Buried treasure

With all six of Diablo 4’s rarest Unique Items being uncovered over the past few days, the community will be looking towards new treasures to seek out and find. Surely, the arrival of Diablo 4 Season 1 later this month will see all-new Unique Items added, which should keep high-level players engrossed in a fresh chase.

Obviously if you’re a Diablo 4 player lucky enough to see any of the above six items drop during World Tier 4, you’d be wise to keep hold of it – even if you’re not a high enough level to be able to wear it just yet. Each one is sure to come in handy during the endgame. At present it isn’t possible for Diablo 4 players to trade Legendary items (only Rare and Magic) so you’re only option is to wear or store them for the time being.
