Dharmendra Yadav slams Central Govt over farmer issues

New Delhi: Samajwadi Party Lok Sabha MP Dharmendra Yadav, while taking part in discussion on the Union Budget 2025 on Friday, accused the Cental Government of neglecting the farmers and not fulfiling the promises made to them in 2014 Lok Sabha elections.    

The Party Chief Whip accused the central government of neglecting farmers during his longest speech in the Parliament. 

During the discussion on Union Budget 2025, Chief Whip of SP in Lok Sabha Dharmendra Yadav said that in its Sankalp Patra of 2014, BJP had announced to give minimum support price to farmers on the basis of Swaminath Report and had promised to double the income of farmers. He added that BJP is in power for the past 11 years and recently the government presented its 12th budget, but the government has failed to improve the condition of farmers.

Taking swipe at the NDA government in the Centre, the MP said that the present government only knows how to give long speeches.

Dharmendra Yadav said that due to the government's negligence, farmers still have to take loans because they do not get even the cost of their produce in the market. The condition of farmers is going from bad to worse, but government has doing nothing to imporove the lives of farmers.  

Criticising the budget, he said that the government claimed that this budget is the biggest budget till date, but after seeing and evaluating it, we feel disappointed. The government has allocated only 2.7 percent of its budget for farmer welfare, which showed the governemnt has neglected the farmers.

He targeted the Central Government over farmer issues, saying in order to improve the country's economy, farmers have to be made prosperous.
