DGCA grants permit extension for Jet Airways

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation said on July 31 that it has extended the air operator’s certificate of Jet Airways until September 3 to allow the Jalan Kalrock Consortium (JKC) to implement the court-approved resolution process as part of the insolvency resolution proceedings.

However, the airline will still be required to meet certain pre-conditions before resuming flying. These include submitting a firm action plan for revival of operations after the airline is transferred from the National Company Law Tribunal to the JKC.

Jet Airways will also be required to demonstrate compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.

The airline shut operations in April 2019, following which it was admitted for insolvency resolution as per the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016. Jalan Kalrock Consortium had emerged as the winning bidder for Jet Airways. After demonstrating trial flights, the DGCA had issued AOC last year which expired in May 2023.
