DFS Secretary M. Nagaraju lauds PNB for cyber awareness programme during 131st Foundation Day

New Delhi: Punjab National Bank (PNB), India's leading public sector bank, commemorated its 131st Foundation Day with a majestic ceremony at its Dwarka head office on Saturday, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

The event underscored the bank's heritage of trust, innovation, and financial inclusion, with the highlights delivered by the top officials highlighting its focus on customer-driven growth and digital evolution.

The function was attended by M. Nagaraju, Secretary, DFS and Ashok Chandra, PNB MD and CEO alongside other delegates.

M. Nagaraju, Secretary, Department of Financial Services (DFS), appreciated PNB for its pioneering product offerings, which have contributed immensely to financial deepening and customer experience. He also appreciated the bank's initiative in fostering cyber awareness among citizens, solidifying its vision for secure and responsible banking.

His remarks reinforced the government's appreciation of PNB's consistency with national financial inclusion objectives, especially in terms of reaching under-served populations.

Ashok Chandra, MD & CEO, PNB, thanked stakeholders and said: "PNB has been a cornerstone in India's development, providing credit to every sector and promoting financial inclusion all over the country.".

Our efforts have been towards uplifting the poor, making citizens, educating the young, enriching farmers' livelihoods, and encouraging entrepreneurship—on the path to Viksit Bharat by 2047. Being a customer-centric bank, we are always working to enhance our grievance redressal system, enhancing call center operations, and using QR codes for efficient customer feedback to improve service quality.

New Product Launches Along with Digital Innovations

On Foundation Day, Bank PNB launched 34 products, of which they released 12 tailor-made deposit schemes for specific categories of customers like; salaried women, farmers, serving defense personnel, NRIs, and senior citizens.

On the digital front, PNB released 10 technology-based services, including: Single-window DEMAT and trading account onboarding, fixed deposit bookings on WhatsApp, GST Express Loans (up to ₹1 crore for new-to-bank customers), Digi MSME Loans (up to ₹25 lakh), Self-onboarding for savings and PPF accounts.

A Celebration of Legacy and Culture

The event was ended with energetic performances by the PNB Parivaar cultural team and a musical tribute by ace singers Meiyang Chang and Jahnvi Shrimankar, celebrating the bank's legacy that endures.
