DeVonta Smith had a hilarious reaction to the Sixers’ Jumbotron calling him a ‘former Philadelphia Eagle” and NFL fans loved it

To some, DeVonta Smith might already be an established sports star in Philadelphia. After setting Eagles’ receiving records as a rookie, the playmaker often called the “Slim Reaper” should probably be a household name around Chestnut Hill and Broad Street.

Evidently, someone forgot to tell the operators of the 76ers’ Jumbotron.

During Philadelphia’s (-2 favorites coming in) Game 4 matchup against the Heat, the arena display at the Wells Fargo Center cut to Smith sitting courtside. Rather than celebrate the rising Eagle for being a hopeful young foundational piece of the future for the hometown fans, they used a rather interesting intro chyron instead:

Excuse me: “Former Philadelphia Eagle”?

Smith had the funniest reaction to the mysterious label.

Does the Philadelphia arena crew know something we don’t know, or did they just make an egregious mistake? Or both?

The Smith “former” snafu caught the attention of folks around the NFL world, who couldn’t help but laugh in confusion together.
