Development opportunities as South Lanarkshire Council put offices up for sale

South Lanarkshire Council has put offices up for sale, creating opportunities for development.

The Montrose House Offices in Hamilton, formerly used by the Southern Scottish Electricity Board and bought by the council around 20 years ago have been put up for sale.

The offices were used by the local authority and lie across from the council headquarters. The site has now been declared as a surplus to the council and no longer needed and are now available for purchase.

Opportunities to develop the property have now arisen.

Daniel Lowe, executive director of housing and technical resources, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to purchase a building of almost 6000 square metres in prime location in Hamilton.

“There are excellent transport links and fantastic local facilities, as well as 76 marked parking bays.

“It’s worth pointing out that any proposed alternative use will require detailed planning consent and the potential purchaser is encouraged to take into account the relevant local development plan policies and guidance, and to discuss their proposals with the planning service.”

Offers as well as details of the proposed development including layout must be submitted by email and the closing date is June 8 at 12pm.
