Devastating image shows extent of damage to Stuart Broad's pub after heartbreaking fire

A pub part-owned by England cricket star Stuart Broad and his former teammate Harry Gurney was devastated by a fire in the early hours of the morning on Sunday.

The Tap & Run in Upper Broughton caught fire while Broad was playing for England in the second Test against New Zealand at Trent Bridge, with eight fire engines responding to the incident.

The blaze devastated the roof and first floor of the pub, but thankfully nobody was injured. And new aerial photos have laid bare the damage the fire caused, with Broad and Gurney sharing several images on social media.

The pictures show the roof has been almost completely devastated as well as the inside of the pub. Only the conservatory adjoined to the side of the building looks to have survived the blaze.

The pictures were accompanied by the caption: "We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of love & support we have received over the last couple of days and want to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts.

"The kind messages and offers of help have been so heartwarming it really has helped us get through a very tough few days. Unfortunately the damage is quite substantial so it's going to be a long road ahead to get the Tap & Run back to its former glory.

"But rest assured we will do it and come back bigger and better than before." Following the blaze, Broad issued a statement on Twitter, writing: "I couldn't believe the news this morning. Not sure I still can.

"Our wonderful pub caught fire in the early hours. Thankfully no one was hurt, the Nottinghamshire fire service were incredible in their efforts and thank you to the villagers for the wonderful support and sorry for the disruption.

"Thinking of our awesome staff today, every single person there has created a special pub for the community. It hurts right now but we will come out the other side."
