Phillip Schofield fled London and headed for fresher air and the sounds of the sea after his brutal axing from This Morning.

Phil made the decision to walk away from the programme on Saturday afternoon after days of speculation, as the pressure piled on for bosses at the award-winning daytime show to act following him facing intense scrutiny since a bitter rift with co-host Holly Willoughby was made public.
The presenter, 61, admitted in a statement that members of staff at ITV have been aware that the situation surrounding himself and Holly can no longer go on. Phil had hosted the show for 21 years.
As the focus now turns to who will replace Phil, the veteran broadcaster has surfaced in Cornwall where he visited his mum Pat, 85.
He made the 300-mile trip to the seaside to spend Friday chatting to his beloved mum on a coastal path walk, appearing to pour his heart out to her as she ambled alongside him with her walking frame.
He was reportedly axed from the show just minutes after coming off air on Thursday. The episode was to become his final one, denying him the chance of a farewell to fans.
Phil was axed after a tense showdown with bosses, in a trade-off which protects his other ITV roles.
And insiders last night revealed his fate was unanimously decided in meetings at ITV Daytime on Friday, while Phil was visiting his mum.
Bosses then set up a call with Phil’s management company YMU in order to break the news.
It is understood Head of Daytime Emma Gormley and Head of Programmes Kevin Lygo then both spoke to 61-year-old Phil.
He agreed to walk away on the basis that conversations about his roles on other shows like Dancing on Ice remain active – and he was promised a new show which he will host solo.
The presenter announced yesterday that he was walking away after two decades on the programme following an alleged falling out with Holly.
ITV confirmed Phil will be leaving his position with immediate effect with a statement at 3pm on Saturday afternoon.
In recent days, speculation had started to mount suggesting his future on the programme was not certain after bosses were prepared to sack Phillip.
Phillip, 61, had been putting on a brave face for viewers despite sources claiming he was fighting to ensure viewers believed everything between him and Holly, 42, were still close friends.
Following his decision to walk away, ITV announced that Holly will be joined on the sofa by regular members of the " This Morning family", but it remains unclear whether someone will eventually join her fulltime.
The Mirror has taken a look at those who are tipped to replace Phillip to appear alongside Holly, who is now on annual leave from the programme until June 5.
