The devastated girlfriend of a British rugby player killed on a stag do in Las Vegas has tragically revealed she spoke to him just minutes before he died.
Car sales director Chris Moran, 32, was enjoying a night out with pals in the US city when he was struck by a lorry at 5am last Friday.
Police and witnesses tried to save him but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
His heartbroken partner Georgia Cooke, 25, said: “We’d been speaking up until 10 minutes before – he was saying how amazing Vegas was and that he wanted to bring me there.
“He was having the best time and we were so excited for our future together. We had just secured a mortgage for our first home and had plans to get married and have kids.”
Georgia, a residential worker for children with special needs, was on holiday at Butlin’s when she learned of the horror.
She said: “I had a call from one of Chris’s friends around 8pm to say what had happened. I couldn’t speak and refused to believe it.
“I don’t know what I am going to do without him – he brought me so much happiness.”
Chris, from Wakefield, West Yorks, played rugby league for amateur team Westgate Common and was a huge Leeds United fan.
Georgia said: “He was the kindest person in the world – he would do anything to help anyone.
“You couldn’t meet a more selfless, caring person.
“He did loads for his friends and family and adored his niece.
“He played rugby every weekend, which he really enjoyed, and was very passionate about his business.”
Georgia and her boyfriend’s family now face an agonising wait to return his body home.
A fundraising page set up to cover the costs has almost topped £40,000.
Georgia has been overwhelmed with messages of love for Chris.
She said: “He’d be amazed. I don’t think he would be able to believe it.
“He was so, so loved by everyone and I hope he knew that.”
Following the tragedy, Nevada State Police released a photo of the site where Chris died and reminded locals and tourists to stick to official crossing points.
A spokesman for the Foreign Office said: “We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Las Vegas and are in touch with the local authorities.”
