Armando Broja is determined to return stronger than before but is devastated to have ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament. The knee injury, suffered in a friendly against Aston Villa, is expected to keep him out for the remainder of season.
The 21-year-old saw his knee buckle in a challenge with Ezri Konsa and left the field in Abu Dhabi via a stretcher before assessments back in England confirmed the severity of the injury. Broja will undergo surgery before continuing his rehabilitation with Chelsea's medical staff.
The forward had enjoyed a promising start to life at Stamford Bridge, having netted his first Blues goal and earned his place as a regular option under Graham Potter. Broja has made 18 appearances this season, injecting plenty of energy from the bench and started the west London side's final two games against Manchester City and Newcastle before the break for the World Cup.

Broja is hopeful that the injury is just a small setback in his career, however, after a tough time in the immediate aftermath of the injury.
He said on Instagram: "Devastated to be ending 2022 in this way. It’s been difficult to process everything over the past few days, but I am determined to come back even stronger and better than before.
"Everyone has their own journey to the top, this is just a minor setback for the good things to come in the future. Thank you to everyone who has sent messages of support. It means a lot. I appreciate them all. I will be back soon."
