Minister for Ports Ahammad Devarkovil and Kasim Irikkoor were elected State president and general secretary respectively of the Indian National League (INL) at a meeting here on Thursday.
The meeting elected A.A. Ameen, Moideen Kunhikalavadu and Salam Kurikkal as vice presidents; M.A. Latheef, M.M. Sulaiman, O. Shamsu, and Ashrafali Palakee as secretaries; and B. Hamsa Haji as treasurer. It also elected seven secretariat members: M. Ibrahim, A.M. Shareef, Sadath Charummod, Kuhavooty Kader, Jiyash Kareem, A.P. Mutsafa and C.P. Anwar Sadath.
The election of new office-bearers comes close on the heels of a dissident faction of the party electing A.P. Abdul Wahab and C.P. Naser Koya Thangal as its State president and general secretary respectively on Wednesday.
The national executive of the party had earlier expelled Mr. Wahab and the Thangal for violating party discipline and questioning the central leadership.
