The NFL’s free agent frenzy kicks off this week, beginning with Monday’s legal tampering period. Teams can negotiate with free agents from other teams and work out deals, though nothing becomes official until the new league year begins on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET.
The Detroit Lions figure to be active in free agency. GM Brad Holmes and his staff enter free agency with the 6th-most salary cap room available for 2022 and a host of holes on the roster. Players from the 2021 Lions who are free agents will also sign around the league.
Detroit already jumpstarted free agency by bringing back a few restricted free agents, notably OL Evan Brown and QB Tim Boyle.
