The city of Green Bay won’t be hosting the 2024 NFL draft.
On Monday, the NFL awarded hosting rights in 2024 to the city of Detroit. Green Bay and Washington D.C. were the two other finalists.
In a statement released Monday, team president Mark Murphy said the franchise and city “remain optimistic” about hosting the draft in “the near future.”
Murphy announced the city was a finalist earlier this year. He said he planned to hear a decision by the NFL owners meetings, which began this week.
The Packers have played a big role in building up the areas around Lambeau Field in hopes of hosting an event like the draft.
In previous years, the draft was held Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, Nashville and Cleveland.
