Detectives probing cyclist death in Shoreditch release image of man

Police investigating the death of a cyclist following a collision with a Tesla in Shoreditch, east London, have released an image of a man they want to trace.

The victim died in hospital a month after he was critically injured on Great Eastern Street, Shoreditch, around 5.55pm on Monday, August 14.

More than five months later, detectives investigating the incident are still trying to trace another cyclist, who is thought to have interacted with the Tesla driver shortly before the fatal crash.

Det Con Phil Stokes of the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “We believe that the cyclist pictured can assist with our investigation and may have vital information. If you know him, or if you are him, please do get in touch.”

The Tesla collided with a private hire minicab as well as a person riding a bike.

The cyclist, a 40-year-old man, was treated at the scene before being rushed to hospital in a critical condition.

He died from his injuries more than a month later, on September 19. The driver of the minicab had minor injuries.

The Tesla driver, a 44-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

He was taken into police custody and was released under investigation pending further enquiries.
