Detectives launch manhunt as victim fights for life after south London shooting

A man is fighting for his life after a shooting in south London.

Armed police and paramedics were dispatched to New Addington after reports of shots fired.

A 28-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound and is in a life threatening condition in hospital.

Detectives have launched a manhunt following the shooting in the early hours of Saturday but no arrests have been made.

Forensics officers have been scouring the scene in Oak Bank while detectives have been collecting CCTV footage from around the crime scene.

A police statement said: “Police were called at 04:31hrs to Oak Bank, New Addington following reports of a firearms discharge. Officers responded with the LAS and London's Air Ambulance. A 28-year-old man was found a gunshot injury.

“He was taken to hospital, where he remains. His condition is being treated as life-threatening.

“There have been no arrests at this early stage.

“A crime scene is in place and enquiries re ongoing.”

Among recent shootings, Sebastiaan James-Kraan, 20, died in hospital five days after being shot in Hanwell, west London, on June 9.

A drive-by shooting in Hackney in May left a nine-year-old girl critically injured.

Shots were fired from someone on a stolen motorcycle towards a restaurant on Kingsland High Street, Dalston.

The girl, an innocent victim who was having dinner with her family inside, was shot, along with three men sitting outside. Two of the men remain in hospital.
