Detectives face perjury, misconduct and other charges

Two senior Victoria Police detectives have been charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice, misconduct in public office and perjury.

It relates to an incident at Longwarry in Melbourne's outer east while the pair were on duty on June 28, 2020.

They allegedly made false statements relating to an attempted vehicle intercept, however the force has not released any further details about the accusations.

The eastern region detective senior constables, both 32, were charged following an internal investigation.

One is facing six counts of perjury, one of attempting to pervert the course of justice and one of misconduct in public office.

The other is facing three charges of perjury, three of misconduct in public office and one count of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

The men are set to appear in court at a later date.
