Details of Lamar Jackson’s Record-Breaking Extension With Ravens Revealed, per Report

The Ravens and Lamar Jackson have agreed to a massive contract extension that saw the quarterback become the highest-paid player in NFL history. The five-year extension is worth $260 million, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

With the deal in place, Jackson will become the highest-paid player in the league on an annual basis, averaging $52 million per year. His new contract also includes $185 million guaranteed, as first reported by Josina Anderson of CBS Sports.

Baltimore stepped up and offered Jackson the monster deal after the Eagles and quarterback Jalen Hurts agreed to a five-year contract extension worth $255 million that made him the highest-paid player in NFL history at the time, per Rapoport. Hurts’s deal includes as much as $15 million in incentives, meaning Hurts can earn up to $54 million per year and up to $274.3 million total through 2028.

Jackson, who didn’t use an agent to represent him in negotiations, has been at a standstill for the last two years with the Ravens when it came to agreeing upon a new deal. The situation got so bad that in March the quarterback announced that he had officially requested a trade from the franchise before the Ravens placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on him on March 7.

But, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Jackson stayed engaged with Baltimore throughout the saga. With the huge deal now agreed upon, the Ravens have secured their franchise star through the 2027 season.
