Details Emerge on Bronny James’s Condition Following Cardiac Arrest

Additional details regarding the status of Bronny James have begun to emerge Wednesday, just 48 hours after the incoming USC freshman and eldest son of Lakers star LeBron James was rushed to the hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest during a practice.

The incident occurred just before 9:30 a.m. local time Monday at the USC basketball facility in Los Angeles, according to a report from the Los Angeles Times. Bronny lost consciousness during the cardiac event and received initial treatment from team medical staff before he was loaded in an ambulance and taken to Cedar-Sinai Medical Center at “Code 3, lights and sirens.”

Bronny, 18, is out of the ICU and in stable condition, according to a Tuesday statement from a James family spokesperson. He is expected to undergo additional testing to determine what caused the sudden cardiac arrest, according to TMZ.

“We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and we will update media when there is more information,” the statement read. “LeBron and Savannah wish to publicly send their deepest thanks and appreciate to the USC medical and athletic staff for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes.”

Following the news of the incident, support poured in from across the sports world, with various athletes and sports media members sending well wishes to Bronny and the James family. Among those who shared messages were Bills safety Damar Hamlin—who went into cardiac arrest during an NFL game this January—and Bryce James, Bronny’s younger brother.
