Destiny 2 Lightfall is in it's second season, but as Season of the Deep comes to a close, it's time to look forward to Destiny 2 Season 22.
Destiny 2's Lightfall expansion is around it's halfway point, with the next expansion The Final Shape (which was shown off at the PlayStation Showcase earlier this year) set to launch in early 2024. So far this expansion has had the Season of Defiance and the currently ongoing Season of the Deep.
Season of the Deep is confirmed to end next month, with the currently unnamed third season of the Lightfall expansion set to follow directly after. Here's everything we know about Destiny 2 Season 22 so far.
Destiny 2 Season 22 Start date
Bungie hasn't officially announced a start date for Destiny 2 Season 22. However, the Season of the Deep page on the Bungie website lists the season as lasting from May 23 to August 22, 2023. Destiny 2 seasons typically start up on the day the prior season ends, so expect Destiny 2 Season 22 to begin on August 22, 2023.
Considering the season hasn't even started yet, we don't know when Destiny 2 Season 22 will end. However, the two seasons that Destiny 2 Lightfall has had so far have lasted about three months (Feburary 28 – May 23 for Season of Defiance and May 23 – August 22 for Season of the Deep), so if we had to speculate, Destiny 2 Season 2 will likely end in late November 2023.
Destiny 2 Season 22: season pass
Considering the season doesn't even have a confirmed name yet, we don't know much about the season pass in terms of what's included.
However, we do know how much the season pass will cost. Starting with Season of the Deep the Destiny 2 season pass has had a price hike. Season passes used to cost 1,000 Silver which was covered by the 1,100 Silver bundle, priced at £8.49 / $10 / AU$14.95. However, Destiny 2 season passes now cost 1,200 Silver which just places it out of range of the 1,100 Silver bundle, forcing you to shell out an extra £4.79 / $5 / AU$7.95 for the 500 Silver bundle.
Destiny 2 Season 22 raid
Raids in Destiny 2 are typically introduced in the first season of a new expansion, with the third season having a re-run. Destiny 2 Lightfall introduced the Root of Nightmares back in the Season of Defiance, so Destiny 2 Season 22 will very likely have a repeat raid.
According to D2Leaks (viaSportskeeda) the raid that is set to return in Destiny 2 Season 2 is Crota's End.
Crota's End was introduced all the way back in 2014, acting as the Raid for The Dark Below (which was the first expansion for the original Destiny). It takes place on the Ocean of Storms and has you take on the titular Crota, Son of Oryx who in the past killed a large number of Guardians before falling into a deep sleep.
However, Liz from D2Leaks said that since it's a raid leak they "don't want to 100% confirm it" as they could "always be wrong". However, players are almost certain that the Destiny 2 Season 22 raid will be one of the returning Destiny 1 activities, and the only options are Crota's End and Rise of Iron's Wrath of the Machine raid.
