Destiny 2’s Season of the Splicer launched on Tuesday, but the past day was the first time anyone had the chance to farm legendary lost sectors for the three new exotic boots the season has added to the game. And early testing seems to be showing that all are extremely powerful in very different ways, and potentially game-changing. And one in particular has a secret that Destiny 2 embedded within its abilities that players have uncovered already.
Alright, so let’s go through them.
Star-Eater Scales (Hunter) – These boots are just…wild, and in many ways, feel like the Titan Curiass Thundercrash exotic from the last season of Destiny 2, but for multiple supers. At baseline, they make orbs charge your super faster, but the real power comes when you get your super, and then you can pick up four more orbs to stack a buff to increase the damage of your super.
And I mean increase the damage of your super. Early testing has shown that these boots actually out-damage Celestial Nighthawk on bottom tree with the buff to super damage at max stacks. It buffs Blade Barrage damage by 60%. It increases the tether enemy debuff damage to a whopping 140%, though only for your hunter. Still, it’s an incredible exotic and it’s been able to breathe life into a number of languishing supers. I love it, even if I have to trade my Stompees for it.

The Path of Burning Steps (Titan) – When Stasis is so bad in PvP, you have to make an anti-Stasis exotic just to combat it. That’s absolutely what path of the Burning Steps is, and it’s quickly going to become meta on Titans here soon enough.
The boots make you harder to freeze and slow, plus they buff weapon damage on solar final blows. While this is meant to be used with a solar subclass, you can still just wear them on Behemoth Titan (using a solar energy weapon) and wield Stasis while being far less hampered by Stasis yourself. This one could be trouble.

Boots of the Assembler (Warlock) – Now, here’s what might be the most interesting exotic of the bunch. It allows you to put down your rift and shooting out seeking rounds that either instantly heal your allies or give them a damage buff, depending on your rift, making you the ultimate support class and synergizing especially well with Well of Radiance tree.
BUT, that’s not all. Since everyone liked how Bungie designed Thorn to work with Necrotic Grips, activating that exotic’s perk on kills, Bungie has gone a step further and designed Boots of the Assembler to secretly buff Lumina, the exotic hand cannon, which took a while for people to test and figure out. Using this exotic and a rift will instantly get you 5x Noble Rounds in Lumina, making support your team even easier, and giving everyone even more healing and buffs instantly. Combine that with nearly infinite wells because of middle tree synergy, and this could be a great pick for PvP or PvE, depending on the situation.
Bungie has done a great job with all three of these exotics in different ways, and I can’t remember the last time they debuted new armor where all of them seemed like potential gamechangers. We’ll see how much they’re used going forward but I have a feeling this isn’t just a Honeymoon phase with these three.
