'Destiny 1' Remaster Rumors Spread as Bungie Discounts All Expansions & DLCs

Bungie sparked rumors of Destiny 1 Remastered after it announced a package for $20 that includes all of the expansions and DLC of the original game. (Credit: Steam, Bungie)

Bungie just permanently cut the price of all Destiny 1 expansion and DLC, sparking rumors that a remaster of the game is on the way.

The latest development comes as the servers for the first game are still very much alive. This is despite the majority of the player base being on Destiny 2 for nearly a decade now.

Bungie's recent decision cut the price of all extra content for the first game to $20 inside a single bundle.

Destiny 1 Remastered

The rumors about a Destiny 1 remaster started after community manager DMG posted an innocuous comment online. He said that he was happy to "pass along the feedback" about a full-on Destiny 1 remastered content package.

This could potentially include modern day quality-of-life changes such as mantling. This was a feature that not many people believed was actually not present in the first game's glory days. A lot of fans are questioning a Destiny 1 remaster.

This is primarily because a lot of people don't think that Bungie should even bother working on such a project. The developer has spent years porting the majority of the first game's content into Destiny 2, according to Forbes.

One of the biggest things that Bungie brought from Destiny 1 to Destiny 2 is three raids; Vault of Glass, Crota's End, and King's Fall. The only one that's left for the studio to take from the first game is Wrath of the Machine.

Discounted Price for Destiny 2 Content

There are also more than two dozen exotic weapons from the original that have made their way into the sequel. Only a few iconic Destiny 1 weapons have yet to make the transition as Destiny 2 players have access to nearly all legendary weapons from the original.

The original Destiny 1 was first launched in September 2014 and has since gotten several major expansions. These include The Dark Below and House of Wolves. All of these brought brand-new content to the game, The Game Post said.

Bungie's latest discount is for the bundle known as Destiny - The Collection, which makes it much easier for new players to get everything from the original game. One user posted on social media asking when servers for Destiny 1 classic will be available.

What makes the collection for Destiny 1 even more enticing is that it includes a Level 40 Character Boost. This is primarily good for players who want to skip all of the early-game grinding and get to the challenging content, according to Kotaku.
