The Jets suffered a close loss in Minnesota in Week 13 to drop to 7-5. But despite that loss, the Jets actually moved up in Nate Davis’ latest power rankings for USA Today.
They got some help from a team that entered the week one spot above them, then proceeded to get pounded on the road and have since fired their general manager. That team, of course, is the Tennessee Titans, who fell from No. 11 to No. 16.
As a result, the Jets moved up from No. 12 to No. 11 in the rankings and Davis is the latest big fan of the one they call “Bam”.
11. Jets (12): The quarterback position is understandably commanding much of the attention in Gotham, but what about rookie RB Zonovan “Bam” Knight? He’s one of only two undrafted players since 1967 to churn out 100+ yards from scrimmage in his first two NFL games.
Week 14 certainly brings a huge opportunity to move up in the rankings. They visit the Buffalo Bills, who check in at No. 3 and as the top team in the AFC — Philadelphia and Dallas are the top two teams overall. A win in Buffalo would go a long way toward helping the Jets end the NFL’s longest postseason drought, let alone helping them move up in the power rankings.
Around the rest of the AFC East, the Miami Dolphins check in at No. 6 while the New England Patriots sit at No. 10.
