A despicable recording has emerged of a gang of thugs brutally mutilating a dead bird in broad daylight.
The CCTV footage displays between 15 to 25 people, mostly male, swarming around what looks to be a dead pigeon on the road, which had been dragged there by one of the group.
A number of the people begin to throw rocks or bricks down onto the corpse before some others jump and stamp on the dead bird.
The sick video lasts around one minute and also includes people throwing a cone at the dead bird and a child's bike onto it.
Other footage shared online shows a member of the group pick up part of the bird and then throw it onto the back of a nearby car.
Finally, person is then seen coming out of a nearby property, causing the group involved to run off down a nearby path, according to Cheshire Live.
The CCTV footage was captured near the bridge on Middlewich Street, in Crewe, at around 6pm on Monday (April 4).
It is not known whether the bird was dead before or after being found by the group. The footage of the incident has been reported to police.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Constabulary confirmed that a video on social media ‘believed to show a bird being harmed’ was reported at midday on Tuesday (April 5).
They added: “A local officer is contacting the caller for further information and enquiries will be ongoing.”
The footage emerged just hours after a cat was reportedly killed when it was attacked by an ‘unknown group’ in the nearby Crossway area of the town in the early hours of Monday (April 4).
Police confirmed that they are investigating this incident.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Constabulary said: “At 8.16am on Monday April 4 police were called to reports that a cat had died after being attacked in Crewe. The caller reported that sometime last night an unknown group attacked the cat in the Crossway area of Crewe.”
Anyone with any information on the cat attack should contact Cheshire Police at www.cheshire.police.uk/tell-us, or call 101, quoting IML 1237734. Alternatively, details can be left anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
